ZPinch Fusion Research Program
Sandia National Laboratories’ Z machine is the Earth’s most powerful and efficient laboratory radiation source. For the past twenty years TEAM has provided diagnostic design, manufacturing support and target hardware for the Z-Pinch Program.
The Z machine research applies to a variety of scientific purposes ranging from the pursuit of fusion energy to weapons research.
Z provides the fastest, most accurate, and cheapest method to determine how materials will react under high pressures and temperatures. The Z Machine fires approximately once a day to a target that captures data. Exposing targets to the high power levels of Z allows scientists to study extreme states of matter may produce unexpected reactions and generate responses of great interest to many areas of science.
TEAM has been instrumental in designing and manufacturing the target hardware used in these experiments.
During TEAM’s performance on the Z Program, TEAM has met the changing program demands of providing mission critical target load hardware sets to SNL on a daily basis. TEAM’s proven and reliable performance on the Z-Pinch Fusion research program has earned TEAM two Sandia National Laboratories Oro Awards for Outstanding Performance and Delivery. Out of thousands of suppliers to Sandia National Laboratories TEAM has earned the classification of being one of eight “Strategic Suppliers.”
